PLDT Fibr Home: How To Fix Blinking Or Steady Red LOS Light On Your PLDT Router

A red light on LOS on your PLDT router means you have no internet connection. It is frustrating to lose your internet connection especially if you are working from home. You might be wondering why you still see that you are connected to your Wi-Fi network but if you have a red LOS light (blinking or steady) on your PLDT modem/router, it means you are unable to browse. Your phone will also lose its dial tone if you have a red LOS light on your modem/router.

PLDT RED LOS LIGHT

Here, we will show you how to fix your red LOS light on your PLDT modem/router.

POWER CYCLE YOUR MODEM/ROUTER

Power cycling your modem/router is the first step that needs to be taken when you are trying to troubleshoot the issue. Simply turn off the device and unplug it from the power source. Leave it off for at least one minute. Make sure that the power adapter is tightly fitted and properly plugged in from the back of the modem/router to the electrical outlet.

CHECKING PHYSICAL CONNECTION

In checking the physical connection, you have to be very careful because the fiber optic cable is extremely fragile and quite sensitive. You do not want to make the problem worse. Carefully check both ends of fiber optic cable coming from the back of the modem to the box attached to the wall. That is to push the connector firmly in, not force.

CHECKING NETWORK OUTAGES

A red LOS light also means you will not have a dial tone on your phone if you have PLDT FibrHome. Using a Smart, Talk and Text, or Sun cellular mobile phone, dial 171 to verify if there are network outages in the area. It's Toll-Free, don't worry about the fee.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU STILL HAVE A RED LOS LIGHT ON PLDT MODEM/ROUTER

If you are unable to resolve the problem, make an appointment for a technician dispatch to check the outside connection. Ask a PLDT technician to come with fiber cable too. We bet that the fiber cable is faulty and needs replacement. In most cases, this is the issue.

Check the fiber cable or the wire that connects the modem to the box in the wall. If you cannot get a technician out right away, go get a fiber cable to check if the one you have installed is faulty. You can order fiber cable online.

FIBER OPTIC CABLE IS FRAGILE

Optical fiber is extremely sensitive to stress, particularly bending. Fiber coatings and cables are designed to prevent as much bending loss as possible, but if you put as little stress to your modem/router’s fiber cable such as accidentally dropping something on the wire, it may bend and stop the signal from coming in. If a lot of red light is visible, the connector is bad and should be replaced.

CAUSES OF FIBER OPTIC MALFUNCTIONS

Insufficient transmitting power.

Excessive signal loss due to a cable span that's too long.

Excessive signal loss due to a contaminated connector.

Excessive signal loss due to faulty splices or connectors.

Unless you cannot wait for the PLDT technician to come, replace the fiber cable to check if it will fix your connection problem or not.
